Founder's Travel Journal: Be-jeweled Sari's Cause a Stir in the Village Day 15
My tailor-made Nepali drab was finally completed - one orange, one green, and one yellow like a tropical bird.I tried on my outfits and went outside to take photos. It caused a bit of attention.
Parmila took me to her apartment to try on one of her sari's. It is a deep sea blue with matching blue, light blue, and silve sequins modestly placed about the trim and in circular formations dotted on the scarf and blouse. Now that I look closer in the light its more like a royal blue.
This caused more of a scene. All the men came to the place where I was taking photos and the women stuck their heads out of balcony windows and shop entrances. I don't think very many people knew I was married until now, for it was not that obvious wearing my usual cargo pants and colored t-shirts. In any case, the men still glued their eyeballs to the lady in blue. I got every comment from "Very nice", "Very beautiful", to "Oh my god...its so...", "You should wear this everyday. It would be good. Yes, good for you I think".
Nevermind them. I made the decision days ago to go back to Pokhara to buy more saris for my newfound girlfriends and myself. We leave Friday after school.
