Founder's Travel Journal: In the News & Tourist Volunteers with Library Renovations Day 23

June 23, 2008 Bookmark and Share

Weather: a.m. rain/fog, breeze, partly cloudy, cooler temps in the mid 80's

In the News
The Maoists have quit the government
Students continue to protest in all major cities regarding the price of living and still demand discounts on public transportation to curb some costs of living
The Police have blockaded all roads and shut down transportation in Nepal and not just major cities
The Police are stationed in Dumre, just at the bottom of the hill from Bandipur

Library renovations have commenced and work is going well. We are finishing temple-sie of the upstairs, moving all items on bell-side to temple-side so we can begin work on that part of the room.

Bronte, another tourist staying at The Old Inn is going to help with the project as well. She is only here for a day or two more, depending o the blockade situation. She has sewing skills and so is going to begin work on the mosquito netting curtains for the downstairs rest area. But it is 1;#0pm now and we must begin some of the harder labor.

A word on the orphanage proposal later this evening perhaps.
