Founder's Travel Journal: People Protest and My Town Hall Meeting Day 24

June 24, 2008 Bookmark and Share

Weather: partly cloudy, light breeze, more sun p.m., upper 80's

-The people are still in protest - "Unified Protest Nationwide"

-I became too bloated to write anymore last night and had to spend the night trying to release the gas

I held a town meeting this evening to discuss the current events and the people's opinions about all things Nepali. I was expecting maybe 8 people to show up but I actually got a full house, 25 people as that's the capacity of the back half of the library upstairs, chairs and bookshelves included. I videotaped the entire meeting which was one hour in length so there won't be much to talk about here with every single question brought up. I would like to mention that I am still awestruck at the enthusiasm and encouragement displayed by the people. Bandipur has maintained tradition aesthetically but the attitudes of its citizens are very much up to speed with what all people want around the world - to live at liberty and to make a contribution to the world. I received answers from all age groups represented at the meeting, male and female alike.

I found happiness.

Now, I am also finding indigestion. Time to walk off another exhaustive night.

*Note: the video of the town hall meeting will be posted on this website soon!
